Blake is an Auckland based abstract geometric artist. Since completing his Bachelor of Design and Visual Arts in 2013, he has travelled the world, started a family and is now regularly making new art.

Blake currently practices with digitally drawn laser cut shapes made from perspex and mdf, which are meticulously hand painted and composed. He utilises and manipulates colours, shadows, distance, and light, and inherent properties of his materials to create crisp and clean multi-layered artworks.

Blake’s ideas are formed in multiple ways such as traditional drawing sketches, digital design utilising symmetry, conception entirely in the mind and laying out shapes and colours and working in an intuitive way, making decisions and responding to the work itself as it develops.

Blake also works part time as a picture framer and thus frames his own work, which often leads to extending the art into the frame itself. He is continuously exploring new elements and has a lot of fun during his creative processes.
